I read up briefly about these TBird conversions and one of the only conversion companies that I found was American Custom Coach Works out of California. I HAVE ALSO INCLUDED PICS OF A 1958 FORD RETRACTABLE AND A 1965 CHEVELLE 2 DR WAGON THAT I HAVE FOR SALE. Many El Dorados, Toronados, Lincolns etc were custom built for customers who were willing to pay big bucks to mess up their hair. As a result custom car makers converted small numbers of popular US vehicles into convertibles. I don't recall what the issue was, but I'm sure you could read up on it.

For some reason auto makers suspended convertible production 1977-1979. I have a true barn find 1979 TBird Convertible for sale. There are also available a 1981 GMC ,1986 Fiero V6 and a 1931 Ford Model A roadster pickup 350 4spd please ask! The roadster has a small block Chevy. I can deliver the car, after it is paid for, for $1/mile round trip. I am in Sothern California about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. Other than that it is ready to go to the new owner. It has been out of trhe DMV computer so long that I have to take it in to have it verified. I have started the paperwork into my name. Again I think that is a connection issue. I can not get the heat or A/C blower to work. The body has no rust but the paint is oxidized. The seats and carpet look good as does the dash. I am sure that it is due to a bad connection.

The driver side window and power seat do not work. It has been stored since 2001 and has less than 82,000 genuine miles on it! Even with the low miles it needs some attention. I don't remember the exact numbers but there were not many built. I looked up the production numbers a while back. They were not cheap but solved the problem This TBird was built by Custom Coach Works out of SoCal. Americans love their convertibles so an LA based shop converted TBirds, El Dorados, Lincolns, Camaros etc. There was some safety issue they were dealing with. In 1979-1981 Detroit did not build convertibles. I have about 20 vehicles sitting here and I always think that I will get to them soon. I have a 1979 Ford Thunderbird Convertible that I have decided to let go.
